| Newport was firs introduced in 1957 as a brand of menthol cigarettes manufactured by Lorillard Tobacco Company of Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. It is the number one menthol cigarette in the United States, and the second most popular cigarette behind leading Marlboro.
The cigarettes are available in full flavor, medium, and light varieties, also packaged in three sizes: Regular size, 100's and Kings size. The 100 mm Newport cigarettes have an extended filter. Newport lights, full flavor, and full flavor 100 can be found in soft packs. Company recently added a new brand to the Newport line of cigarettes, the M cigarettes. It is a blend between light and mediums.
Newport cigarettes are very intensive. They have high nicotine and tar content. The price usually differs in the interval between Marlboro and Camel cigarettes' prices.
