Golden Virginia is perhaps the most popular rolling tobacco in the United Kingdom, and many other countries in Europe today. It has been produced and sold throughout Europe by Imperial Tobacco in England since 1877. It is available in varieties of 12.5g, 14g, 25g, 40g, 50g and 75g pouches. 30g pouches are sold in New Zealand. 5g pouches are also available, but only in prisons. All these pouches have a convenient zip lock seal to keep the tobacco fresh along with the sticky tab.
The tobacco aroma is quite similar to chocolate and is more moist than other brands. Unlike some other hand rolling tobacco Golden Virginia is smooth and nice to smoke, it is not harsh on the back of the throat. It also has much less of an overpowering scent.
Golden Virginia Yellow light blend and the aromatic Golden Virginia Aroma blend may be found in the Greek, Italian and Portuguese markets.
The older packaging was of bright green color with yellow and gold borders. Nowadays the packaging is more of a metallic green color but still with the original yellow and gold borders.
